Salt Painting

For this activity we used: salt, white glue, water colours, paintbrushes, bowl, cardboard papers, water. Instructions: Lay your paper and pour white glue onto your page. You could draw a picture or simply make patterns and shapes. Go wild and cover as much of the page as possible for maximum effect. Pour table salt over the glue. Be generous. You don’t want to skimp on the salt here. Once you have covered all the glue with salt, lift up the page and shake off the excess salt. Shake it into the bowl so that you can recycle the salt for your next picture.Dip your paintbrush into the watercolour paints, then to te water and drop some colour onto the salt. You only need to drop a little colour in one spot. You are not actually brushing the colour over the page with the brush. Then sit back and watch the colour spread and run along the lines of salt. Make the photos while wet because these pictures are not built to last. The salt will crumble and fall off the page as it dries.

Bears Days in High Tatras

The favourite event Bears days for children and adults we visited on Sunday. In term 31 July – 3 August 2014 on Hrebienok people could enjoy great theatre performances, presenters and of course bears. The popular Master N came and many theatres (Piki Theatre, Theatre Under the mushroom, Commedia Theatre, Theatre Mana, Theater without the curtain, Theatre Sting, etc.) We experienced a lot of fun activities with very well known face of the bear days – host Andrej Bičan. We also watched Di´s and Li´s favourite Fíha Tralala theatre. We have all her dvds and it was special to see her alive.

Horse Riding

We were going home from High Tatras and stopped by the Spiš Salaš to have dinner. The restaurant offers many traditional Slovak food. There is also a playground for kids and some animals like sheep and rabbits. Sometimes there are horses from a near farm in Spišské Podhradie offering horse riding for children. Di is used to horse riding because her grandad takes her to Červenica farm from time to time. Li was horse riding for the first time.

Busy Bee

I was inspired by the activity found here:http://www.pinterest.com/jensmalarz/playin-in-pre-k/ I just cut the shapes with the scissors and helped Li to put the glue on them. Li pressed the shapes into one another. Di worked alone.

Pasta Necklace

I did a pasta necklace with Di when she was younger, so I made it also with Li. Threading is a great activity for fine motorics.

Musical Instruments

We have a guitar, a keyboard, a flute, a drum and a violin at home. I play the guitar, the keyboard and the flute a bit. Di learns to play the violin. So Li is often in touch with the musical instruments.
